Overview: This bilingual anthology is a panorama of Polish poetry for the twenty-first century reader. It contains short works by well-known poets that has given the translator much pleasure as a child as well as iconic poems and those that he just enjoyed. Divided thematically, the poems present a very personal kind of an anthology. The publication contains a preface and a very useful short historical perspective written by the translator. Marcel Weyland, the translator and author of the book,was born in Łódź, Poland in 1927 and came to Australia in 1946. His previous translations were Adam Mickiewicz's "Pan Tadeusz", 2002, and "Echoes: Poems of the Holocaust", 2007. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of Merit by the Polish Government and in 2008 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. He lives in Sydney with his wife, artist Philippa Keane.

Marcel Weyland is the author of several novels. Originally from the East Coast, they now live in the Midwest with family. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

It was just alright. It felt a bit repetitive in the middle. Could have been shorter. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

Pretty good overall. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Not bad at all.
