Overview: Tajkun je še ena v nizu značilnih Demšarjevih kriminalk. V njej se ponovno srečamo z izmišljeno pohorsko vasico Vodnjaki (gre za drugo knjigo v istoimenski trilogiji). Zločini se tokrat vrtijo okrog znanega podjetnika, enega bolj premožnih Slovencev, Štefana Matjašiča in njegove družine. Povezovalna nit številnih zgodb je Sara Matjašič, Štefanova hči, ki obiskuje osmi razred osnovne šole.Težave ima pri slovenščini, v prostem času pa nastopa v TV oddaji, ki jo na nacionalni televiziji režira njena polsestra. Z očetovim obiskom šole zaradi učnih težav se sproži tok dogodkov, med drugim Sara po snemanju TV oddaje na poti iz Ljubljane v Maribor izgine. Izkaže se, da gre za ugrabitev z zahtevo po odkupnini. Matjašič gre takoj v akcijo in, ne da bi vpletal policijo, najame nekoga, da bi našel in rešil hčer. S tem se zadeve začnejo šele resno zapletati, saj pride do umora, ki mu sledijo še drugi. Detektivski tim se tokrat spoprime s kriminalnimi dejanji brez sveže upokojenega inšpektorja Martina Vrenka, ki pa se, prostovoljno ali tudi ne, vmeša v razreševanje primera.Roman prepleta več plasti, študijo bogate družine, odnose in vrednote, ki vladajo v njej, strategije delovanja brezobzirnih podjetnikov, usode velikih projektov, ki preobražajo podobo celotnih krajev in vplivajo na usode malih ljudi, probleme prekarnosti, mehanizme razpisov za umetniške projekte; predvsem pa se v romanu razkrivajo zapleteni odnosi med ljudmi, ki so mnogokrat generator nezadovoljstva in sporov.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. A solid 4 stars from me.
