Overview: BUKU ini memaparkan tentang teori dan praktik jurnalitik media cetak secara mendasar. Wartawan harus memiliki sikap dan watak serta tanggungjawab terhadap penugasan berdasarkan kontrak dari perusahaan dimana ia bekerja. Kemudian kontrak secara tidak langsung terhadap masyarakat untuk melaporkan berbagai informasi. Dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, wartawan harus memiliki naluri berita, rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi, memiliki kecepatan dalam bekerja, serta memiliki bahan-bahan referensi seperti buku/kamus/surat kabar/majalah/internet/televisi/radio.Pada bagian kedua, menguraikan syarat kerja wartawan. Pertama, memiliki naluri apa yang menarik untuk ditulis. Kemudian mampu melakukan observasi dengan segenap indera penglihatan, pendengaran, bahkan mungkin dengan rasa atau sentuhan.Bagian tiga, memaparkan tentang berita dan nilai berita. Berita harus obyektif ditambah dengan interpretasi yang bisa diterima dalam jurnalisme. Sedangkan yang disebut nilai berita yaitu berita yang mengandung konflik, bencana/kemajuan, dampak, kemasyuran, segar/kedekatan, keganjilan, human interest, seks dan aneka nilai lainnya.Bagian empat tentang sumber berita. Wartawan harus mampu mencari berita sebagai bidang pekerjaannya. Dengan cara melakukan observasi langsung ke tempat kejadian. Observasi ini akan lebih mudah, jika wartawan menerapkan sistem beat. Sistem yang mengarah pada spesialisasi bidang liputan seperti bidang politik, atau ekonomi.Bagian lima, teknik menulis berita. Dipaparkan tentang teknik-teknik dasar jurnalisme dalam menulis berita. Sedangkan bagian enam, menerangkan tentang struktur berita yaitu piramida terbalik dan tentang pembuka dan lead. Terakhir bagian tujuh tentang gaya penulisan wartawan dalam menuangkan tulisannya.

A very satisfying read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Worth the time and money.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. Not bad at all.
