Discover The Feelings Hotel : A Children's Picture Book about Emotions and Feelings, Age 3 - 8. by Emma Quick. Start reading today and explore ideas, insights, and experiences that stay with you.

Overview: No matter what age we are, the ability to understand emotions and talk about how we are doing can help us to connect with others, tackle challenges and build our resilience long term. That's why learning about our emotions is so important. If we can notice different feelings as they come up, we have a better chance of working through them. The feelings hotel is here to help our children to learn about their feelings and understand that we all experience a wide range of emotions, some more tricky than others, but feelings are ok and welcome. The Feelings Hotel was inspired by the Rumi poem, The Guesthouse and shares the idea with children that we can become mindfully aware and notice all our feelings, treating each one with curiosity and kindness. This fun picture book is simply illustrated with colourful fuzzy feeling characters, children can be encouraged to draw their own Fuzzy feelings to express how they are feeling. You can also get a set of free printable character cards to accompany the book at my website www.calmahoykids.co.uk. I Love the Feelings Hotel book. I have used it with my children and I can't wait to use it in my clinical practice as a psychologist - Catherine Hallissey, Clinical Psychologist.I am a mum and a mental health nurse so have always been acutely aware of the importance of teaching our children to recognise and regulate their emotions. This is something we have always tried to do at home but I was delighted to find Emma’s feelings hotel story and emotions cards. This is the first time I have come across something that so brilliantly helps young children to recognise and normalise their emotions, both pleasant and tricky ones. I will continue using this with my own children and look forward to using it with some of the families that I work with.So impressed! ❤️ - Emma HThis is a lovely resource to teach children what feelings are and how they differ from one another. It gives children a fun visual of what a feeling might look like. Most importantly, this resource teaches children how to be aware of their feelings, to know it is ok to have them and most importantly, that it is normal for several feelings to pass on by throughout the course of a day. I shared the story portion of this resource with a 3.5 year old today during her private yoga lesson. She is working hard to understand her feelings and how to calm her body and mind. She absolutely loved the story! As Oprah would say, she had an “Ah-ha” moment. It connected all of lessons we have covered in the last three weeks and really hit home. She fell in love with the fluffy looking characters. I’m excited to continue to discuss this book, the characters and the other parts of this resource with her in our future classes. - Amber CThis was used with an 8 year old student with Autism. They grasped the concept quickly through the illustrations and loved drawing their own feelings at the end. A great resource. Thank you :)

Really enjoyed this one. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Will be looking for more from this author.

I liked it for the most part. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

It was okay. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. A solid 4 stars from me.

It was just alright. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Just right down the middle.

It was just alright. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. A generous 3 stars.
