Overview: Yerel basın demokratik yaşam ve eğitim için önem taşıyor, ancak Türkiye’de bu beklentilere yanıt verebilecek durumda mı? Bugün için tabloya bakıldığında gün geçtikçe yerel basının ciddi kan kaybına uğradığını söylemek olasıdır. Yerel basının özellikle seçim dönemlerinde hatırlanması ve seçim dönemlerinde özellikle gazetelerin, dergilerinin sayısının artması çok anlamlıdır. Öte yandan yerel basının özellikle sanayi ve ekonomik güç taşıyan yerlerde daha yaygınlık kazanması ve hayat bulması da üzerinde düşünülmesi gereken bir durumdur. “Yerel basın geleneği” can çekişiyor demek çok iddialı ve yersiz bir tespit olmasa gerekir. Oysa Türkiye’nin içinde bulunduğu ekonomik ve toplumsal durum, yerel basına duyulan ihtiyacı en üst düzeylere taşımaktadır. Buna yanıt verecek bir yapılanmanın bulunmayışı, Türkiye’nin demokratik ve çağdaş yaşamı için ciddi zaaflar doğuracak niteliktedir. “Türkiye’de Yerel Basın Uygulamaları” adlı çalışma, bu tabloya karşı akademik duyarlılıkla yaklaşma gerekliliğinin doğurduğu bir sonuçtur. Türkiye’nin “fazilet adaları”na olan ihtiyacı her zamankinden biraz daha fazladır. Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Will be looking for more from this author.
