Overview: Dos tomos, que recogen novecientas páginas nos presenta el Centro de Investigaciones Populares (CIP) para dejar constancia de la investigación más sustancial que se ha realizado en Venezuela en los términos del conocimiento comprensivo del mundo de vida popular del delincuente venezolano. Alejandro Moreno Olmedo, sacerdote salesiano, psicólogo y Doctor en Ciencias Sociales, junto a un reconocido grupo de investigadores: Alexander Campos, Mirla Pérez, William Rodríguez, María Isabel Bustos, María Gabriela Marín Figuera, Pedro Parra, Blanca Benavides y Julio César Pérez González, son los autores de este título auspiciado por las Ediciones del Vice Rectorado Académico de la Universidad del Zulia. 2007. La obra establece un mundo de definiciones articuladas por medio de un lenguaje que hace explícito una red de terminologías que van descifrando los hilos que mueven al delincuente venezolano dentro de sus motivaciones más profundas.-definiciones que trataremos a grandes rasgos-. Los volúmenes van soportados con un cuerpo de referencias bibliografías, consultadas y no consultadas, que dialogan con los métodos cualitativos de corte biográfico, mas no se refiere a la autobiografía como tradicionalmente se conoce, sino de las nombradas “historias de vida”. Se advierte que el investigador no disfruta la cómoda actitud de indagar desde su escritorio sino que se convierte en actor social y participa de la vida de los actores que trata de conocer compartiendo sus mismos lugares de intercambio y formas de vida. Este tipo de investigación de carácter empírico contribuye a conocer, más allá del basamento teórico, una interpretación objetiva sobre los hechos y adquiere validación cuando la biografía está narrada por el propio actor (Historiador) en una relación de acompañamiento físico o no con el investigador (Co-historiador). Las trece historias de vida tratadas en esta investigación se desenvolvieron generalmente, por medio de un contacto permanente entre el historiador y el co-historiador.

An average read for me. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. Just right down the middle.
