Overview: El mundo entero sabe de las las navegaciones y descubrimientos que los españoles realizaron al oeste de la península ibérica, pero de sus luchas y conquistas en el Mediterráneo poco se conoce más allá de la batalla de Lepanto. Lo cierto es que Sicilia quedó vinculada a la corona de Aragón desde fines del siglo XIII; Cerdeña, siguió el mismo camino en 1324 y Nápoles desde 1442 hasta la guerra de sucesión, que se cierra con el Tratado de Utrech, 1713, en que se pierden los tres territorios. Pero la penetración hispana en el Mediterráneo no se limitó a las tierras itálicas, sino que, atendiendo a una llamada del emperador bizantino, Andrónico II, a comienzos del siglo XIV, la Gran Compañía Catalana, conocida genéricamente como 'los almogávares', acudió en su auxilio ante el ataque de los otomanos, a los que aplastaron en sucesivas batallas. Sin embargo,temerosos de su poderío, los bizantinos los traicionaron, mandando asesinar a su jefe, Roger de Flor, y a gran parte de su plana mayor. Lejos de amedrentarse, los almogávares tomaron cumplida represalia en lo que ha pasado a la historia como la "Venganza Catalana". Allí, en Grecia, se establecieron durante largas décadas después de haber tomado Atenas, constituyendo un Ducado en esta ciudad y otro en Neopatria, bajo la soberanía del Rey de Aragón. Really enjoyed this one. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. A solid 5/5 for me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
