Overview: Perkembangan bidang arkeologi maritim di Malaysia telah menjangkau usia dua dekad. Namun kedudukan dan kepentingannya sebagai disiplin ilmu dan bidang penyelidikan masih kurang disedari, berbanding dengan arkeologi daratan. Perbincangan dari segi pengertian bidang arkeologi maritim dalam konteks arkeologi Malaysia agak perlahan meskipun potensi perairan negara sebagai tapak kajian ini merupakan antara yang paling penting dalam kajian arkeologi dan sejarah maritim Asia. Hal ini berlaku disebabkan oleh masalah dalaman yang berbentuk teknikal dan luaran yang didominasi oleh masalah kekurangan dana pembiayaan. Akhirnya mengekang bidang ini tidak berupaya untuk kembang seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi peninjauan dan galicari arkeologi maritim di peringkat global. Malah, Malaysia jauh ketinggalan dalam aspek penguatkuasaan undang-undang perlindungan warisan maritim. Perkembangan industri penyelamatan komersial telah meletakkan bidang arkeologi maritim di negara ini dan Asia Tenggara amnya, berada dalam kedudukan yang kritikal. Persekitaran fizikal laut bukan lagi menjadi halangan untuk menjalankan projek tinjauan dan ekskavasi di dasar laut Asia Tenggara. Namun, perkembangan teknologi yang pantas telah menekan ahli arkeologi maritim Malaysia memilih sama ada untuk berkrompromi dengan industri penyelamatan komersial atau bersendirian dalam kedudukan yang serba daif. Justeru itu, penulisan ini cuba mengemukakan satu sudut pandangan tersendiri berhubung permasalahan kajian arkeologi maritim Malaysia dan diharapkan penulisan ini dapat menyediakan satu garis panduan untuk mencapai matlamat yang sewajarnya.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.

Not bad, but not my favorite. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.
