Overview: Queerness und Sozialismus – Eine RückschauQueerness und Sozialismus – dies mag zunächst wie ein Widerspruch erscheinen, ist es bei genauem Hinsehen auf das Alltagsleben, die Künste und Literatur von und über LGBTQI*-Personen in Ländern wie der DDR jedoch ganz und gar nicht. Auch wenn sie oft verkannt waren und teilweise noch immer unsichtbar sind, es gab sie: queere Geschichten, Romane, Gedichte, Erzählungen u.v.m.Bislang gibt es keinen systematischen Überblick queerer DDR-Literatur. Daher versuchte die gleichnamige Tagung „Queere DDR-Literatur“, die 2024 an der Universität Regensburg im Rahmen der Forschungsgruppe „Light On! Queer Literatures and Cultures under Socialism“ stattfand, einen ersten Schritt in diese Richtung zu unternehmen. Im Fokus des daraus resultierenden Buches stehen Leben und Werk so unterschiedlicher Autor:innen wie Irmtraud Morgner, Brigitte Reimann, Erich Loest, Christa Wolf, Christa Reinig, Ronald M. Schernikau, Norbert Marohn und Franz Fühmann, ebenso die gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen im Hinblick auf queere Lebensformen.

A very satisfying read. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

It was just alright. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Just right down the middle.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Enjoyable weekend read.

An average read for me. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
