Therefore, a few methodological truisms require disclosure here:• Cutting and pasting imperialist correspondence from antiquity is not historic inquiry.• Quoting "authorities," "prophets," "scholars" and other musty excursions into name-dropping as to lend credibility (in and of itself) is not evidence.• Fiction and myths are not empirical facts; superstition is not science or evidence.• Merely clipping, comparing, and commenting on quotes is not scholarship.• Finding prominent personages in print that agree with you is not research.• Truth lay in understanding things as they actually are, not in superstitious somnolence shrewdly simulated to appear as intellectual sagacity.Centuries of evidence-not opinions-has to be digested deductively and verified in veracity. Then the subject matter had to be grasped intellectually, organized chronologically, historically then logically, this at a minimum. This is the closing quietus, the finishing stroke, the thing that effectually ends or settles the investigation.

A solid read. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

An average read for me. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Pretty good overall. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. A solid 4 stars from me.
