Overview: Les débats du début de l’année 2013 à propos de loi sur le mariage homosexuel ont paradoxalement contribué à mettre l’accent sur un fait : malgré leur pénalisation, depuis 2004, les actes de discrimination liés à l’orientation sexuelle ou à l’identité de genre n’ont pas disparu, loin s’en faut, et la jeunesse représente un enjeu central de la lutte contre ces discriminations à plus d’un titre.Les jeunes lesbiennes, gays, bi ou transexuel·le·s (que l’on regroupe aujourd’hui dans l’acronyme LGBT) constituent en effet une cible privilégiée des attaques homophobes et sexistes. À l’adolescence, les rejets, les exclusions dont ils sont victimes (parfois au sein même de leur famille) peuvent être source de mal-être profond et en font un public vulnérable trop peu reconnu comme tel par l’action publique. Mais la jeunesse s’érige aussi en bourreau principal si l’on considère les premières insultes entendues dans les cours d’école. La question de l’écoute, de l’accueil et de la prise en charge des jeunes qui se définissent comme homo ou trans, ou tout simplement s’interrogent sur leur orientation sexuelle, est donc essentielle, mais la prévention mérite également une forte attention. C’est aussi sur les capacités d’adaptation des jeunes et sur leurs ressources qu’il faut miser pour espérer un changement des mentalités sur le long terme.En s’adressant à un public de professionnels de tous horizons (champs éducatif, sanitaire, social, judiciaire…) et à l’ensemble des acteurs politiques et associatifs travaillant dans une relation de proximité plus ou moins importante avec la jeunesse, ce numéro de la collection « Cahiers de l’action » recense et analyse les ressources mobilisables et les formes de réponses déjà mises en oeuvre à différents niveaux afin de contrer les LGBT-phobies, sans oublier d’ouvrir quelques pistes nouvelles notamment en évoquant des expériences novatrices menées à l’étranger.Cécile Chartrain est docteure en science politique (associée au Centre de recherches sur l’action politique en Europe de Rennes). Elle est par ailleurs membre du comité de rédaction de la revue Genre, sexualité & société depuis sa création.

A very satisfying read. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Would probably read it again at some point.
