Overview: Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 2, Technische Universität Dresden (Germanistik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Als im Jahr 1989 die Massen nicht mehr Wir sind das Volk " riefen, sondern Wir sind ein Volk " war das nicht nur ein Grund für die führende Politikerriege sich in der Einheit Deutschlands zu profilieren, sondern auch ein Grund um nachdenklich zu werden und diese Gedanken in Form von Literatur auf Papier zu bringen. Nicht nur dass viele DDR- Intellektuelle und Teile der damaligen Opposition sich gegen eine Einheit Deutschlands aussprachen, es gab diese Stimmen auch im Westen. Allerdings gingen diese im Get se des Einheitsjubels unter oder sie wurden sogar als Vaterlandsverr ter gestempelt. Viel allerdings scheint an ihren Bedenken wahr zu sein; die Korruption in der in Eile hervorgestampften Treuhand, die Schwärme westdeutscher Politiker, Beamter oder Geschäftsleute im Osten, der auch bald die neuen L nder, Neuf nfland und anders gerufen wurde. Es wurden bl hende Landschaften und gesunder Wohlstand versprochen, die dann doch etwas auf sich warten lie en. Nat rlich war der politische Wille damals dann doch die Einheit Deutschlands, nicht zuletzt unter den sich abzeichnenden politischen Unruhen in der damaligen Sowjetunion. Schien doch Gorbatschow als m chtigster Mann und Erfinder von Perestroika die Garantie f r diese Einheit zu sein, mehr noch als der Wille der anderen Siegerm chte, so eben Washington neben London und Paris. Deshalb und nat rlich politisches Kalk l der CDU, welcher die Wende gerade zur rechten Zeit kam, lie man sich nicht auf eine Verz gerung der Verhandlungen ein. Die D-Mark musste her und damit auch die politische Einheit Deutschlands. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.

An average read for me. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.
