Overview: In his writings, Linos Benakis deals with subjects relating to ancient Greek, postclassical and Byzantine and Modern Greek philosophy. His main interests are in the last two of these periods and he has published reliable critical editions of works by Byzantine philosophers. In his research he employs the historical critical method, backed by scrupulous textual verification and examination of the content of other scholars' findings, arriving eventually at an "historical interpretation" of the problems, which meant reconstituting the problems in accordance with the structure of each philosopher's systematic thinking. Working on these methodological principles, he created a clearly defined research programme which involved restoring Byzantine philosophy as an actual corpus of texts (for which critical editions would have to be published or reissued) and also defining the particular philosophical character of the problems of that period. Glad someone recommended this to me. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Worth the time and money.

It was just alright. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.

Really enjoyed this one. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

A solid read. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. A solid 4 stars from me.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Not bad at all.
