Overview: Questo lavoro è il risultato di un’elaborazione delle lezioni sul pensiero freudiano tenute presso la Facoltà di Psicologia dell’Università di Padova. Le lezioni ripercorrono l’avventura intellettuale, umana e teorica di Sigmund Freud, a partire dalla premesse storiche, culturali e scientifiche che hanno portato alla nascita della psicoanalisi, fino agli sviluppi recenti di questo pensiero in continua trasformazione, che trovano spesso nel testo di Freud un accenno e una traccia. Viene inizialmente preso in considerazione il problema della «suggestione» per l’importanza che ha nella storia della psicologia dinamica e delle moderne psicoterapie, attraverso due momenti iniziali e fondanti la psicologia dinamica, quali sono il magnetismo e l’ipnotismo, e successivamente vengono ripercorse le tappe fondamentali del pensiero freudiano, dagli esordi degli Studi sull’isteria e del Progetto di una psicologia, passando per L’interpretazione dei sogni, per giungere poi alle fondamentali scoperte sul transfert, la sessualità infantile e la situazione edipica. All’interno di questo percorso viene dato ampio spazio al dibattito sulla presunta opposizione tra teoria pulsionale e teorie relazionali, e tra approccio metapsicologico ed epistemologico e quello ermeneutico. In conclusione vengono presi in considerazione i contributi che Freud ha portato alla psicologia delle masse e al problema della civiltà e, per finire, quello che è il testamento di Freud, così com’è contenuto nei due fondamentali lavori del 1937, Analisi terminabile e interminabile e Costruzioni nell’analisi. In questo percorso, che non disdegna «diramazioni» su autori postfreudiani che hanno portato modificazioni all’originario pensiero di Freud, è stato dato particolare valore al testo scritto dell’opera freudiana. Il libro si propone quindi come uno strumento di base per avvicinarsi al pensiero, sempre attuale, di uno dei maggiori protagonisti del Novecento.

Pretty good overall. It held my attention, even if a few things were a little predictable. Enjoyable weekend read.
