Overview: En el tránsito del siglo XIX al XX, en pleno apogeo de la industrialización y el imperialismo, y en los albores de las crisis políticas, económicas, territoriales y medioambientales del pasado siglo surgieron voces discordantes que cuestionaron el orden social hacia el que se dirigía el mundo moderno. Muchos de estos discursos, asociados con la lucha obrera, feminista o antimperialista, estuvieron a su vez vinculados al espiritismo o la Teosofía. Por otra parte, en la misma época, surgieron en torno al arte de danza interesantes procesos de colaboración e intercambio entre creadores que contribuyeron a la renovación de las artes. A pesar de ello, hasta fechas recientes, la danza ha quedado relegada a un espacio sombrío dentro de las narrativas de la historia del arte; un lugar compartido con corrientes vinculadas al esoterismo a las que también se acercaron un buen número de creadores.En este libro se recogen un conjunto de textos que reflexionan sobre el arte de inicios del siglo XX a través de sus conexiones con el ocultismo, tomando la danza como hilo conductor. A través de este arte se articulan discursos que atraviesan tiempos y territorios, generando una cosmología que permite repensar nociones como identidad, cuerpo, movimiento, gesto; así como los binomios Oriente-Occidente, tradición-modernidad. Estas voces circulan a lo largo del libro creando una coreografía común que trasciende los sujetos históricos.
