Overview: Memaparkan kisah hidup seorang tokoh dan pejuang Islam Turki dalam memelihara iman dan akidah umat Islam yang pada ketika itu menghadapi detik-detik kehancuran sejak berakhirnya zaman pemerintahan khalifah. Selepas Turki diisytiharkan sebuah negara Republik, suasana dan budayanya turut berubah sama sekali. Turki menjadi sebuah negara sekular dengan mengharamkan semua syiar Islam seperti menukarkan azan ke dalam bahasa Turki, mengharamkan tulisan Arab selain menyekat kegiatan dakwah.Dilahirkan di desa Nurs dari kalangan keluarga yang dihormati, Said Nursi mempunyai tujuh orang adik beradik dan beliau merupakan anak keempat. Beliau mendapat didikan agama yang secukupnya oleh kedua ibu bapanya, yang merupakan pasangan yang soleh dan solehah serta mempunyai keluasan ilmu agama yang tinggi. Seusai berumur sembilan tahun lagi, beliau sudah mempunyai keinginan yang tinggi dalam menuntut ilmu. Bersama-sama abangnya, Abdullah, mereka berdua merantau ke tempat yang terdapatnya madrasah pengajian demi mendalami ilmu agama.Said Nursi juga merupakan seorang pelajar yang pintar. Beliau dapat menghafal dan memahami isi kitab hanya dengan waktu yang singkat sahaja. Inilah kekuasaan Allah dalam mengurniakan anugerah kepada sesiapa hamba yang dikehendaki- Nya. Beliau diberi gelaran Badiuzzaman yang membawa maksud keunggulan zaman oleh gurunya yang bernama Syeikh Fathu'llah.Selain mendalami ilmu-ilmu agama berkaitan Al-Quran dan Hadis, beliau juga banyak mendalami ilmu sains seperti fizik, kimia, biologi, astronomi dan ilmu kaji bumi. Dengan menguasai cabang-cabang ilmu, Badiuzzaman Said Nursi dilantik menjadi guru. Beliau bertindak dengan menggabungkan ilmu agama dan ilmu sains moden. Baginya, ilmu sains dan ilmu agama tidak dapat dipisahkan.Tafsir Rasa'il al-Nur adalah merupakan karya agung beliau. Karya yang mendapat pengiktirafan daripada para ulama ini adalah tafsiran Al-Quran yang membincangkan ilmu hadis, falsafah, ilmu kalam dan tasawwuf.Selain diterjemahkan ke dalam beberapa jenis bahasa, risalah beliau juga pernah diharamkan edisi pengeluarannya kerana ditakuti mempengaruhi rakyat Turki ketika itu untuk bangkit menegakkan syiar Islam.Buku karya Abdul Latip Talib ini banyak mengupas kehidupan Badiuzzaman Said Nursi dan perjuangan beliau hingga ke akhir hayatnya. I liked it for the most part. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Still a good book.
