Overview: La primera edición de Tiempo de silencio apareció en Biblioteca Formentor, Seix Barral, en 1961 y alcanzó casi inmediatamente una extraordinaria resonancia crítica. Ha sido traducido al ingles, al francés, al italiano, al alemán, al holandés, al portugués, al sueco, al checo, al rumano, al finlandés, al danés y al polaco. Dondequiera ha sido señalada como una obra excepcional. Tiempo de silencio transcurre en Madrid precisamente durante el otoño de 1949. A partir de un accidente estúpido y de sus consecuencias —no por evitables menos determinadas— el autor nos muestra con ojo irónico el panorama completo de los estratos sociales de la ciudad. Lo más significativo del libro, no obstante, es su decidido y revolucionario empeño por alcanzar una renovación estilística a partir —ya que no en contra— del monocorde realismo de la novela española de la época en que apareció. La presente edición tiene carácter definitivo, por cuanto en ella se han restituido al texto la plena totalidad de las supresiones que había forzado a introducir en él la censura del anterior régimen español en sus diversas formas. Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Will be looking for more from this author.

Good, but not quite perfect. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

An average read for me. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

Pretty good overall. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Not bad at all.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. It held my attention, even if a few things were a little predictable. A solid 4 stars from me.
