Overview: Este livro, publicado em 1965, tem como pressuposto o desejo de compreender a obra literária como resultado da sublimação de dados sociais que, de um lado, fazem dela expressão de uma sociedade e de um momento histórico; mas, de outro lado, perdem a sua natureza de fatores para se transformarem em elementos de uma estrutura que funciona como se fosse independente.
